FIFA World Cup in Brazil 2014

The next FIFA World Cup will take place in Brazil from 12 June–13 July 2014. But it's not just the host country that's getting fired up for the contest! For several years, the major football championships have been enjoying increased popularity and are drawing fans in droves to the big screen to cheer on their favourites.

The time difference between Brazil and Germany is five hours, putting the live broadcasts of evening contests in the middle of the night in Europe. But Berlin is a city that never sleeps, and many fans aren't going to let a few hours of lost sleep keep them from following the sports highlight of the year.
Fan Mile in Berlin

Since the successful street party for the 2006 World Cup, Berliners and visitors have celebrated with a major football fan festival on Straße des 17. Juni between Brandenburg Gate and the Siegessäule. Starting with the quarter finals, the recent world and European championships have been broadcast live on a big screen in Berlin's green core. A stage at the Siegessäule adds live music and show acts for entertainment and a good atmosphere.

As soon as we hear that a fan festival on Straße des 17. Juni is being planned for the World Cup in Brazil, we will be sure to share the good news with you here.
